Athlete Spotlight

Our Athlete Spotlight for the 2nd quarter of 2019 is none other than Adam Park.  Adam always brings a good attitude to the box and shows up every day eager to learn and push his limits with each workout.  We asked Adam to tell us a little bit about himself and this is what he told us…

CFPU:  Tell us a little about yourself… (career, family, etc.)

ADAM: “I’ve spent most of my career supporting the defense industry in various capacities while working for a large DoD contractor. I just recently assumed the role of Deputy Program Manager for one of my division’s major programs. I am extremely humbled and honored to work for an organization whose focus and vision is to support the American and Allied warfighter.

As far as my family life, I’ve been happily married for almost 15 years to the woman of my dreams (I definitely out-kicked my coverage). We have a 12 year old daughter and two sons (10 and 5). They keep us on our toes for sure.

I am also very involved in my church. I try to keep my faith in Jesus Christ at the center of everything.”

CFPU:  How long have you been doing CrossFit?

ADAM: “I started doing CrossFit around September of last year (2018).”

CFPU:  Favorite CrossFit Movement?

ADAM:  “Power Cleans”

CFPU:  Least Favorite?

ADAM:  “Overhead Squats!!!!!!!!”

CFPU:  Go-to pump up song or music?

ADAM:  “Really anything that isn’t hip-hop. I would probably have to lean towards classic hard rock as my go-go (maybe a little Ozzy, Aerosmith, AC/DC, etc.)”

CFPU:  Things you enjoy outside the gym?

ADAM:  “My wife tells me I start a new hobby every other day. To sum it up, I would say anything outdoors. I love to hunt in the fall and spend my summers on the lake. I enjoy a wide variety of water sports, but spend most of my lake time on a wakeboard. I also like to fly fish when I get the opportunity.

Ultimately though, I think watching Saturday morning cartoons with the wife and kids is probably my favorite thing to do.”

CFPU:  Next CrossFit goal?

ADAM:  “Perform an overhead squat at full depth with actual weights on the barbell.”

CFPU:  Favorite Coach?

ADAM:  “I love all my coaches ☺”

CFPU:  What is one thing we don’t know about you?

ADAM:  “As a child, I had a strange habit of sniffing my fingers. I still have yet to completely out-grow it.”

CFPU:  Favorite athlete, CrossFit or not?

ADAM:  “Reggie White – HoF Defensive End. As a childhood Eagles fan, I loved watching the “Minister of Defense” dominate on Sundays.”
